The Wait is Over! Taco Bell's Nacho Fries Review

By the Food Editorial Team

January 25th, 2018 seemed like any other day, but while most people had their usual routine - work, school, etc. - Taco Bell unleashed their newest creation to the world - the Nacho Fries! The team here at clark & chloe had this day marked on our calendars and as soon as lunch time hit, we were off our local Taco Bell.

Coming in 3 versions - Nacho Fries, Nacho Fries Supreme, and Nacho Fries BellGrande - we opted for the original Nacho Fries as well as the Nacho Fries Supreme. (The only difference between the Supreme and the BellGrande is the portion size). After about a five minute wait, the time finally came.

THE NACHO FRIES

The first thing you'll notice about these fries is that they are thicker than most fast food french fries. That being said, the portion size for the fries is on the small scale. At $0.99 per order, they just barely reach the level of being "worth" that price. That being said, they came fresh, crispy, and smelling of goodness. Taco Bell says these fries are "boldly seasoned with Mexican spices", and they definitely were more than your average french fry. With each bite, there was something more and more familiar about the taste of these fries, and then - EUREKA! They taste so similar to Popeye's Cajun Fries and Boiling Crab's Cajun Fries! (And that is not a bad thing!).

Each order of fries also comes with a small side of Taco Bell's cheese sauce. The fries and sauce combination was good (well, maybe not for the health of the human body), but if it happened to go missing, we wouldn't find.

THE NACHO FRIES SUPREME

If the Nacho Fries alone aren't enough for your taste buds, we introduce you to the Nacho Fries Supreme. Take a batch of Taco Bell's Nacho Fries and top them with a healthy dose of seasoned beef, chopped tomatoes, sour cream (reduced fat), and nacho cheese sauce. If your body made you stop reading yet, let us tell you - this meal is definitely HEAVY. It tastes like Taco Bell's version of California fries or loaded nachos but with fries instead.

Some will love it. Some will not.At $2.49 and 420 calories, the Nacho Fries Supreme is not for the weak of stomach (or heart).

CONCLUSION

Taco Bell's Nacho Fries are worth a try. It may not take the crown in the battle of fast food fries, but it brings something slightly different to the party which is something Taco Bell is used to doing. This is another key piece to add to their innovation kitchen's success and worthy of its forbears. (But maybe skip the Supreme).
